Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much food will I receive?
It all depends on the season. Certain crops do well some years, other crops do well other years. We never know what the season will bring until it’s upon us. For a general frame of reference, see the list of weekly harvests from the 2011 season.

2. Where do I pick up the food?
All food is picked up at the farm.

3. What are the pickup days/times?
Tuesday & Thursday 4pm-7pm
Saturdays 10am-12pm

4. How is the food distributed?
Food is harvested the morning of each pickup and arranged under a tent for members to gather themselves. A chalkboard lists how much members can take, and scales are available for produce that must be weighed. Someone is always present to assist members.

5. Do I have to work on the farm?
Members are not required to work on the farm, but volunteers are definitely welcome.

6. Are pickup dates flexible?
Because we harvest produce for the specific number of people expected that day, we ask members to make every effort to stick to their chosen pickup day.

7. What if I can’t make a pickup?
Family, friends, and/or neighbors are welcome to pick up your food for you.

8. Can I split a share with someone?
Definitely. For the purposes of data entry, we allow only one contact person per share (full or half), but both partners can email the growers with questions; receive CSA-related emails; pick berries, herbs and flowers; volunteer, etc.

9. Can I bring my kids to work on the farm?
Definitely. Parents must supervise young children, and age-appropriate tasks are not always available, but children are certainly welcome.

10. Does being a CSA member involve much walking?
The parking area is a 200-foot walk from the tent where food is distributed, as well as from the herb garden and flower gardens. The vegetable and berry fields and restroom are about a ¼ mile walk from the parking area.
