Restoration Farm was founded by husband and wife team Daniel Holmes and Caroline Fanning. Both native Long Islanders, they met in 2002 while apprenticing at the Poughkeepsie Farm Project in Poughkeepsie, NY.  In 2003, Dan returned to Long Island to become the head grower of Sophia Garden in Amityville. Caroline joined him in 2006. In 2007, they signed a contract with Nassau County to launch Restoration Farm at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. They married at the farm in 2009. Over the years, they have been supported by an ever-changing cast of family, volunteers, and paid staff.
